Any Thoughts On This Old Thing.

Recently picked up this old pan with gate marks and was wondering if anyone knows who the maker might be along with anything else you could tell me about it. Thanks

This type of marking was placed by the foundryman at the time the sand mold was made in order to record his production for piecework pay, so does not indicate the manufacturer. It looks like an 8 on the top of the handle, so the 7 on the bottom is odd, perhaps signifying something else..

Thanks for the info. I don't see an 8 on the top of the handle, maybe I am missing something. I didn't see anything quite like it poking around on Google so that is why I hit you guy's up.

Thanks Doug. I was wondering the same thing about a gate marked three legged pot that I have that says 7 WT.

This looked like an 8 to me. This spot is often where size numbers are placed on handles like this.
