After looking everywhere locally, and finding nothing but the wimpy over-priced 3M brand stainless scouring puffs I finally found the heavy duty scrubbers I was looking for. These things get rid of rust and stains quickly and with much less elbow grease, and you can process 5 or more pans before they completely fall apart. Use them on your cast irons right after the lye bath, you will thank me later!
It's called a "Thunder Group (SLSC002) - Stainless Steel Scrubber" and you can find them at a few online stores. Here's one of them...

The best ones were actually the old version of the Chore Boy, which were basically a tangled mass of flat stainless steel ribbon. They would eventually begin to fall apart over time and usage, but worked really well. The current ones are like a ball of tightly coiled spring, softer and not as aggressive. The worst are a stainless steel mesh over a foam sponge core, and are more sponge than steel.
