Every now and then I do research on a foundry. I think I might post my results in this thread.
Today I saw online a pancake griddle that is marked "PAT JAN 25 1881 - S MFG CO - NEW YORK" (I'll post pictures later)
I checked the foundry database listed on this site and, although "S. Mfg. Co" is listed, there's no info for it.
So I looked up the patent date and fount its patent (here). Looks like "S. Mfg. Co" is "Schofield Mfg. Co" established by Silas C. Schofield. When he retired, his son managed the business (link to Silas C. Schofield obituary).
