Large block Griswold waffle iron

I was just at one of my local antique malls and saw a Griswald waffle iron that had the steel coil handles, but didn't have a base. They were asking $50. I passed it by becoming I didn't think it was worth that with the base. It needed cleaning and rust removal. Should I go back for it? Thanks

$50 with a base these days would be a tough get. The trick would be finding an orphaned base, and more importantly, the correct one. They're not all the same, primarily in terms of the leveling pin positions. Fortunately, they are numbered and the chart here will tell you which number base(s) go with which number paddles.

Yes, that base will match p/n 151 #8 round paddles or a p/n 928 #8 heart & star set, but we don't know what paddles the OP has (or is considering).
