seasoning sad iron with mineral oil lighter color than expected

I got a couple of Wapak sad irons and decided to try mineral oil since I'm not going to cook with them. I applied the mineral oil at 200 and let it season for 1 hour at 300. I'm surprised that its so light looking. Is this a bad assumption on my part or am I missing something?

I have 10 Wapak sad irons. A few are lighter colored, like silver kinda. Its my #1 and #2 that are greyish. I didnt season them at all. I feel theres no need to season an Iron. It probably dont hurt it, but they were made for clothes, not food, I didnt do anything to mine at all.
