Well, I am starting out on this site as I am sure many have. I recently acquired a gated spider that is unmarked, except for a raised #2 underneath the handle. The handle does not have a hole in it and is flat. The CI is relatively thin. I do not have exact measurements, but the skillet is easily 10-12 inches. I will add measurements this evening. The legs are all intact and D-shaped. The skillet is pitted on the bottom, but the sides are good and there are no cracks, holes or damage. The outside is rough but with a uniform roughness (if that makes sense). It only had minimal surface rust and cleaned up with vinegar and some elbow grease with a scouring pad. The pics are after I seasoned it twice.
Any info is greatly appreciated. I am an avid CI user and have a hard time passing up pieces that I may cook with, even if only occasionally. Most of my pieces are BSR's and Wagners. This is the only gate mark piece I have (yet).
Does anyone have any ideas on dates or even possible maker. I plan to buy the "Gray Book" and look for more info there, however, the book costs more than this piece did...
