Unmarked 3 notch #6 skillet

My husband is the collector of cast iron, but I’m trying to help him out with identifying and dating this skillet. I found it at a garage sale today for $0.25 and figured I’d pick it up for him. I am fairly certain it is a Lodge, but the extra letters at the 12 o’clock spot are throwing me off. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

This pan presents as a three-notch Lodge from the early 1940s, but I've never seen a Lodge with a bunch of letters above the number like that. They are puzzling to me too. I'm sure Doug can tell you about the letters. Great price, by the way. In my neck of the woods it would be worth $20 to $30.

The extra characters are in the working pattern, and apparently were used to track something. Lodge must have thought better of the practice at some point and chose a means other than essentially defacing both tooling and product. I think this was probably more early 50s.
