Belknap Hardware and Mfg. Co.
Location: Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky
Founders: William B. Belknap
Period of Production: 1840-1985
Products Sold: Waffle Irons, Skillets, Dutch Ovens
In addition to stoves and hot plates, Belknap marketed waffle irons, skillets, and dutch ovens under the Belknap and Belmont brands. Much of their hollow ware suggests they outsourced production to other foundries. Being a large, full line hardware supplier, they likely had no foundry of their own. Early Belmont skillets appear to have been made using modified Griswold Victor pans to create patterns. Griswold may well have made them for Belknap. Belknap marked dutch ovens appear to have been made by Lodge.
