I believe a found a Blacklock 7 at a junk store over the weekend. After some researching around and looking at griswoldandwagner.com's pictures, it looks like it to me. What do you all think?

The inside is smooth and flat, but the bottom is a bit gnarly though. Still, I think it's pretty dang cool!

Since no one seems to know with certainty what a Blacklock looks like, these have been dubbed "possible Blacklock".

Sweet!

If no one knows what Blalock looks like, how does one know what they are? It's like "if a tree falls in the woods and no one hears it ..." or whatever that expression is.

The Red Book, Lodge section, shows what the authors believe a Blacklock skillet might have looked like. Given the timeframe and the fact that Lodge Mfg. Co. succeeded Blacklock so soon after its demise, the expectation would be that it would have had an outside heat ring, been side-gated, with a raised size number atop the handle, and a molder's mark letter on the bottom at 6 o'clock. Recently published collector research has attempted to add a somewhat wavy, smashed looking handle reinforcement rib to the mix as a characteristic indicative of Blacklock.

There is a #12 dutch oven at a store near my house with these same type of markings. The bottom has a raised RC where yours has BL. Now I am wondering if that might be a possible Blacklock also?? It's a really nice DO and the inside surface is smooth.
