I have a cheap BSR and lodge pan that I use directly on electric coil stove and it has marks on the bottom of it from the electric coils and from the metal pieces that hold the coils in place. If I am cooking with any of my good pans with nice marking on the bottom I always use a heat dispersion plate for the purpose of preserving the pan. I have bella copper heat plates that work well. I just cringed when he was scraping that Erie pan back and forth on the electric coil. Of course most of our pans were meant to be used and any damage he does to it will not effect the way it cooks, I personally would be a little more careful with it.
