4 Legged Bowl ??

Happy New Year ! Hope you can help me out with this one.
I came across a 4 legged cast iron bowl at a flea market, picked it up and saw the gate mark and purchased it for a reasonable price. A good bit of searching gave me no answers, the info might be on the web but I cant find it among the millions of 3 legged posts !
So here is what I have: 9" wide, 4" deep, bale handle, pouring/tipping handle, gate mark and 4 legs.

Pics arent great but should give you the overall look.
Questions, comments, any help is appreciated.

Brian

The shape is that of a Scotch bowl, but the legs are odd. Scotch bowls were designed for cooking food requiring constant stirring or for deep fat frying. They normally have a heat ring, associated with pieces designed for use on a wood stove. Legs imply design for use on a hearth or over a fire, neither a heat source convenient to the aforementioned Scotch bowl uses.
