A couple of recent picks

A GH#3 from the big flea market in Mobile, AL. Only three vendors seen with any vintage iron. One had quite a bit, already cleaned and seasoned, and with somewhat high but not outrageous prices. This one from another who would not consider any offers, saying the "old iron" is worth more. I told him he was preaching to the choir. But this was probably the best piece he had. After cleaning by me.

And this #9 WWSO handle griddle from a local flea market. After cleaning by me.

I recently picked up the exact same griddle. I'll have to post a picture so they can be friends. Looks good!

My local flea market is similar. There's one guy that has all sorts of stuff. ERIEs, early Wagner, and Griswold of every variety you can think of. All of it cleaned and seasoned. I bet he has close to 100 pieces on any given day. But it's all overpriced. I could pick up a small block #8 for like $100 .

The good news is there's plenty of other dirty and rusty iron to be had for $5-10. I haven't scored any amazing collectibles yet this way, but lots of good users and good practice for my restoration skills. Thrill of the hunt.
