got this at an auction today... was pretty rusty looking but was at least identifiable... after a couple of hours of scrubbing it looks like there is a bit of pitting on the cooking surface, but nice and clean and flat on the bottom.

Nice. I have that same pan. Incredibly thin and light for a 12.

exactly... I had to check a couple of times to make sure it really was a 12, because the weight didn't seem right when I picked it up... I plan on weighing it at some point to compare... it feels more like a 10 when you pick it up. I was really surprised it wasn't warped or cracked... it seems so thin.

Very nice skillet!I like a #12 too, kinda like my go to size sometimes for cooking. I don't have any Favorites yet, but I want one someday.

I like the way those pans are numbered. Did I read somewhere that the numbers are hand written? Nice find.

the pattern (is the skillet) you use to make an impression on the sand (mold) wich is filled with the iron to make an other skillet,
Molten iron I guess is how is called what is used to fill up the mold
