I recently acquired a #12 skillet and I'm curious to find the date.
I'm not interested in reselling. I'm an avid cook, so I'm really more interested in the history and bragging rights. (I'm already partway through the cleaning process, which is going great and the piece looks beautiful, to me, despite minor pitting.)
The skillet has a "B" on the underside and says "14 inch skillet." My understanding is that the "B" means it is a Wagner. (I got that impression from The Pan Handler. That site also says that any Wagner pieces made 1960s or later include "Made in the USA," which my piece does not.
Trying to date it though, using this page on CastIronCollector.com, there's no mention of the "B," and it provides dates according to various other words/images that appear on the bottom of the pans. That suggests to me that the pan is post-1960s.
I'm clearly missing at least some pieces of the puzzle and much knowledge, so assistance will be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance for your help.
Other potentially relevant information:
-There's no heat ring. This is completely flat bottom.
-A "B" appears both on the bottom of the skillet and the underside of the handle.
-The "12" and all other markings appear to be stamped, rather than raised.
