"Almost" found something on Craigslist ...

I was surfing for cast iron on Craigslist today and came across a posting by a guy who was giving away a pile of junk. He really just needed somebody to haul it off for him. His post said it was an all of nothing pick up. Here's the pile ...

Looks like a few pieces of cast iron in there ... a skillet, turtle gem pan, a big griddle, maybe a pot? (can't tell if that is cast iron or not - it looks like a plastic flower pot, maybe?) and what looks like an aluminum cornstick pan.

I emailed him to see if his pile would fit in my pickup truck. He said the pile was too big for my standard-sized bed. Rats. I emailed him back to see if he would take close up pictures of the cast iron and that I might be interested in buying them at $5 each. (assuming they looked salvageable in the pictures.) I haven't heard back. Rats again. Oh well. It's probably a recently produced Lodge skillet, etc. (at least that's what I'll keep telling myself. HA!

You might be right! I saw the hole on the right side and thought it looked like a drainage hole on a flower pot, but it could be the hole for an acorn hinge to sit in.

That's the cut-out where the handle shank rests. The hinge side is opposite; you can see how it protrudes outward there.

He sent me a picture of the cast iron pieces. Unfortunately he has now decided to list them separately on Craigslist. Rats. I offered him $50 for the lot of them. Without inspecting them in person, it's impossible to determine if they are worth anything at all.

I forgot to add, he claims the waffle iron is somewhere in the pile of junk.

What you should have done was go over there, load up the iron first, then whatever else would fit until the bed was full, and then say, "Best I can do. Have a nice day."

Haha! Yep. I was hoping to find out if it was worth the drive before I went down there (maybe an hour from my house). Should have taken the chance.

Some of that stuff looks like BSR.

For sure, the two-burner griddle is a BSR Dry Fry Griddle, unless someone else made identical ones that I don't know about.

The Camp DO looks post-DISA BSR, with the tab handle lid.

Referencing the last pic, the skillet sitting on the grass looks like a BSR handle. The two pieces sitting on the Dry Fry also resemble BSR handles but it's harder to tell. Not sure about the rest of it.
