Well, I did a little antiquing today traveling in the Appalachian Mtns. Came across an antique store that had a boatload of old iron. Griswold, small and large logos, Piquas, Wagner and a couple of pieces of nickel(or was it chrome, sorry forgot) plated Griswold and a variety of cornbread stick pans and some unknown hammered skillets. Long story short, I settled on this excellent condition and specimen of a #8 Wagner Sidney O. Arc/Straight, High 1915-1920, according to the sources here. It was cleaned up and restored real nice. Interior was slick as glass, literally, but slightly tacky from the new seasoning of previous owner and you may see my fingerprints inside that distorts the shine a little, but great find for $50. And, this one did not appear to have been used a lot, but just a best guess. The nicest Griswolds I found were two large logo type #8s for $125 and $150. They appeared cleaned and restored, real nice, but whoever did the restoration, had a little to much veg oil/shortening/or whatever they used and was a tacky to the touch, but otherwise in great shape and no hard use like deep knife cuts, no warpage or cracks. I saw a dirty #7 small logo Griswold like that for $32 and passed on that because the heavy cuts inside. I passed on the Griswolds for now at $125/$150. I might go back later and haggle a little on those two Griswolds. I could have filled my car trunk with old iron, literally, but my rear end of my car would be dragging the interstate. :icon_rofl:
