Any ideas on the maker of this skillet?

Very thick carbon layer, but I've gotten most off the bottom so far. I was hoping for the big reveal, but no such luck. It's a 9" skillet, cooking surface is smooth as glass. There might be a mark on top of the handle but it's still covered, so not quite sure.

On the bottom, the handle and rib are reminiscent of a Wagner/Griswold. It is smooth-bottomed and there are no country of origin markings. The only mark is at the 6 o'clock and appears to be a "C" in a circle. The mark is raised, not imprinted in the surface.

Any thoughts? Regardless, it's going to be a lovely skillet once cleaned up - just curious to know her story :-)

The mark being raised rather than inset implies it was made in the sand mold by the molder after the pattern was extracted, just prior to casting. Quite likely a copy or skilled recast made using an actual skillet as or as the basis for a pattern.

Thanks Doug - that's what I was starting to think as well. I uncovered almost all of it today after another soak in the tank and there is a 6 above the handle, but no other markings. If it is a knock-off, they did a nice job!
