Anyone know what this is?

I picked this up last week at an antique store. I've done lots of reading but I can't figure out who made it or how old it might be. It has no markings on the bottom at all. The handle is reinforced, the 8 on top of the handle is raised, and it has a solid inset heat ring. It also has what looks like a scour mark at 3 o'clock just outside the heat ring? Any ideas? Thanks!

Those are seen frequently as of late, but still defy identification. Some want that raised number to make it a Blacklock, but nothing else about them falls into that line. Looks like a pattern or mold repair on the handle, too.

Thanks! Someone on reddit thought it may be a really old Lodge. Any validity to that theory? The reinforcement plate on the handle looks like some of the "Erie" pans... I don't know.

The pour spouts are the reg flag on this and similar pieces. All the other characteristics are believable for an early 1900s skillet. The major, well-known manufacturers all had wide spouts. You don't see these smaller spouts come up until the time that automation began taking over. I'd look at it this way... either:

1. This piece is a post-automation piece, that pays homage to the established styling of the past, or
2. This piece is an early 1900s piece, featuring a distinctive attribute which would not be common for another 40 years or so.

Framed like that, I'd say the former is more likely, without definitively ruling out the latter.

Early Lodge pieces in particular tended to have overly-large pour spouts.
