Arc Lodge #4

The 'monday night' auction had some cast iron again. I bought a couple of smooth bottom wagner skillets because they were cheap and I thought they would clean up well and be something to sell. A #7 BSR chicken fryer, crusty but otherwise in good shape (no lid). And this little guy, which was the only one I was actually interested in. The only thing you could see was that it was an arc Lodge, everything else was covered in crud. It's been soaking for a few days. At the auction they had what I assume is a dome top, tab handle (looks like taiwan made to me) lid, pretty sure the lid isn't original lodge... it isn't seasoned yet but I like the way it cleaned up.

That looks great, I found one like it on my trip. Can you post a picture of the lid please? I think Lodge did make some tab handle lids. Was it a skillet lid with ears?

my first thought was BSR saucepan lid... but after looking at it more closely I think even the people in Taiwan were ashamed to put their name on it.

Also I'm not sure if it was trying to be cast as a 'hammered' finish or if someone has actually hammered on this little guy.

I am thinking your first thought was correct, it's not Lodge. Looks like an import to me. The lack of basting dripper's make me think Asian but I could be wrong.

Win / Win for you. 4s are hard to find and so are ARC logo Lodges. Great buy. I'm jealous. I just picked up my first arc logo skillet this weekend, a nice #3. I do have an Arc logo #7 lid too.
