Black Residue

I have a lodge three notch number 8 and after cleaning and seasoning, when I wipe it with a white paper towel I am getting a shiny black gray residue on the paper towel. The other pans that I have cleaned and seasoned using the same methods do not do this. Does anyone know what this might be?
 
If you've manually seasoned the pan but haven't cooked in it, I can only guess, but it sounds like the temperature was taken past the point of polymerization of the seasoning oil used to the point of it carbonizing to some degree.
