Cahill cast iron fireplace grate/insert

I realize this forum is for cookware enthusiasts but I though maybe someone would have a link or some info on the Cahill fireplace grate/insert. We bought one yesterday at an Estate Sale and would like to get some information on it, when was it made, how exactly were they used, etc.

Any leads would be greatly appreciated,
