Cast Iron Hard to Find in Your Area? I Think I Found Where It All Went.

Doug, your auction finding skills are amazing! A memory of the Bergstrom collection is floating around in the back of my mind, but won't come up front where I can grab it. Does anyone else here remember seeing something on the Internet about this collection? Anyway, I read part of the auctioneer's description--wow! I couldn't go; I'd fall down in a frothing fit somewhere in the middle of it--no money to buy.:-( It would be great to see all that stuff in one place though.

yeah, I made the mistake of clicking on the pictures on the auction listing... drool all over my keyboard... and when I checked the clock again a couple of hours had passed.
skillets and trivets and lids, oh my!

I looked through the list and pictures a little, did anyone see anything exceptionally rare or noteworthy?

I was looking for an Erie Spider on one of the Griswold's with 3 pour spouts. None listed.

there were at least two #13's... and a 3 or 4 4's with heat rings (erie and EPU)... I lost count of the golf ball gem pans... I was just amazed at the number of items... 789 lots over two days and about half of the lots contain 2-5 pieces!!! and I have a soft spot for Favorite piqua and lids... I'm sure someone who knows more about gem pans could chime in on the quality and quantity of those.

An impressive collection. Many that go to auction represent a lifetime of acquisitions. Here's another, a real mind-boggler:

yeah there was a thread here on CIC when that article came out... If I get to the point that I need to build additional buildings just to house and display my collection then I won't have to worry about my wife complaining about my cast iron obsession anymore... 'cause she'll be long gone at that point.
