Cast Iron lid W/ FBP

I have a cast iron lid with the letters FBP on the top and under the handle there is a diamond with the same letters inside... Anyone have an idea about the age and manufg. of this item or where I might find out. I have been all over the internet and can't find any information.

If not a foundry trademark, usually stands for "flat bottom pot". BSR perhaps, but it was not typical of them to mark lids twice. A photo of both top and bottom would likely be of help.

I just exited eBay no more than 15 min. ago and was searching for BSR , DO's and cam across one that has the same lettering on the lid. Think it was a #8 and the seller proclaimed it as being a bean pot. I actually thought the B &P stood for bean pot and was trying to figure out what the F stood for. I think Doug is more correct in his definition. Try doing the search for BSR, DO's on eBay and it should come up.

The confusion may be that there was something Atlanta/BSR sold called a Franklin bean pot, but it was small, and the lids were not like DO lids.

O.K. I went back and did a copy/paste of the link and if I did it right it should be attached to this thread...
Good luck.

Well then...I've got a flat bottom BSR pot with no lid. It has a size marker of 8A on it (http://i.imgur.com/RSobsAm.jpg). I wonder if this lid you found is a match. And if it is, then I suppose I have to decide if I care enough to try to buy it :icon_scratchchin:

OK, here are some pictures. I have it in a vinegar water soak to get rid of the rust so it still looks pretty rough.

Yup, BSR. The old catalogs called them flat bottom stove pots, but that should be what it's for. 1930s-40s, maybe somewhat earlier.

I just found a similarly marked bean pot - do y'all think it's a BSR? Images are attached below. Thank you for your help!
