Cast iron tea pot identification

I know these are outside of most wheelhouses, but figured I’d take a shot. Picked up this Tetsubin today. Seller claims Japanese exchange student believed it was authentic. And, she said it’s nearly identical to her own that was shipped from Japan. In my limited searches online, many Tetsubin have some small Japanese script. Can’t find any on this one.

Anyone see anything that strongly suggest Japanese?

At a minimum, it looks/feels vintage. Hoping it’s Japanese. Only a small bit of rust inside that I can get to with those toothbrush looking wire brushes. Hesitant to strip because I want to just add layers. This is for boiling water for my French press coffee. Don’t want to have to worry about rust regularly.

Looks like it to me too. The pour spout shape and the handle makes me thing it could be Japanese. Its very nice too!

Thank you. The more I’ve looked at it, the more I believe it is. Either way, I’m going to enjoy using it.
