Chain mail

I do. My grandmother had one (I don't have it unfortunately) and used it clean her pans if they were really cruddy after cooking. It works pretty good. Normally, I use a soft brush and a little water, but if I need to bring out the big guns, I use chain mail.
 
I have a chail mail scrubber but it's just a wall decoration. It never occurred to me to actually scrub anything with it. Scotch Brite pads are as tough as I get with my CI
