I'm considering picking up this chicken fryer. These are the only pics I have, they say it sits flat and no cracks. I think through researching this site, that the lid is a match, correct? also is this worth the $45 i got them down too? i've been wanting a chicken fryer

Considering a new Lodge 3-quart CF is $35.76 at Walmart, I'd rather spend the extra $10. And get that Vintage collectible one. I personally don't think you will have any problem getting your money back if you decide later to let it go.

It looks like the right lid to me. The lid has the characteristics of a Favorite Piqua lid, Chicago Hardware acquired all the FP patterns, so I think it's a match. I think $45 isn't bad with the lid.

I paid 35 last week for an unmarked version of the exact same thing. It is a beautiful piece. I wish mine was marked. 35 is more than what I normally pay but it was worth it, well made for sure. the lid is a match for sure.

I agree that the lid is a match. I have a Piqua Ware with the same style lid. The odd thing is that my CF is a 8-1/2 and the lid is a 9 B. Has those lugs just like yours.

Usually excellent quality from this manufacturer; and have you priced new cookware lately?!? Outrageous! If you really want this particular type of pan, I bet you'd be happy with the one shown. Just my opinion!

Since I have a Favorite Piqua chicken fryer (marked 8 1/2) with no lid... I've been looking at lids lately and noticed that there are CHF chicken fryers with a lid marked 8 1/2... but I've also seen the marked Favorite chicken fryers with regular Favorite lids marked 9... anybody have any input into this? or know the actual measurements for the Favorite 8, 8 1/2 and 9 lids?

8-1/2 and 9 lids appear to be the same size, some with ghost marks indicating the change from one number to the other. Not sure why.

Mother in law picked it up for me this morning as it was a few hours away from me and she lives close. Can't wait to get it cleaned and seasoned, $45

My Piqua Ware CF pan is 10-15/16" outside to outside (not counting the ears). My lid is 11-3/32" outside to outside (not counting the ears).

Is there any way to date the pan I got? I know it would be after Favorite went bankrupt and Chicago got their patterns, how long did Chicago make cookware?

It would appear CHF survived the strike and riot, and existed for many years thereafter. It's inconclusive as to how long they continued to produce CI cookware.

Finally met up with the inlaws and picked up the chicken fryer, pan marked 8 1/2 and the lid is marked 9B, looks to be in excellent shape, flat, no cracks, should clean up well! I think it was definitely worth the $45 paid.
