Chicken Fryer 1

I was in a local antique mall today and saw 2 chicken fryers. They were more $ than I thought they are worth but interesting enough to do some digging. Chicken Fryer 1 was labeled as an unmarked Wagner but I think otherwise. The lid looks like a Puritan per the Red Book, page 137, top right. There are no markings on the lid that I could see. The pan has an "A" in a diamond at 6 o'clock. I think it is a Chicago Hardware Foundry per the unmarked section of this web site. Any guidance, including value, would be appreciated. They need some cleaning but otherwise look in good shape.

Favorite Piqua, whose patterns were sold to CHF when FPW went out of business, supplied pieces for Sears that were sold as Puritan.

Were the CHF Puritan parts a 2nd source for Sears during the time Griswold made them? Were they made in a different time period? Would the pan have been sold as Puritan with the CHF markings?

This one was still at the antique mall last weekend. The owner still thinks it's unmarked Wagner although I told the mall person who called the vendor what I think it is. The vendor came down to $55. I wanted a chicken fryer and it looks like it will clean up nicely so I bought it. No spin on the floor. Pan is in the electrolysis tank. Lid to follow.

After clean-up I found the "8", "1" and "2" inside the lid. I guess the "8" is a size. Are the "1" and "2" pattern numbers or something?

8 1/2, to distinguish it from their size 8 covers that fit their regular skillets and are not the same diameter.
