Chicken Fryers

I have a question as I have no books yet and I haven't seen anything on the web about it. Why does some of the Wagner Chicken Fryers have pouring spouts and some don't? I've noticed that the spout-less ones are more common. Other than that, they are the same as to heat ring or no heat ring, markings, and size.

I think the ones with the pour spouts are considered deep skillets and have no tab to hold on to. The fryers have no spouts and a tab to hold on to. but then again I could be totally wrong. i noticed the same thing I have some with or without spouts and with or without tabs and a 1088 catalog number

I found that out when I bought a skillet lid with ears and tried it on my earless pan. I bought a glass lid that fits it good. I wonder if the eared lid would fit on a eared pan? I might have to find out. :D

And there are different diameter earless ones, IIRC. To make things even more difficult, there are apparently two 1081 lids that aren't the same size. Finding a match is often a frustrating task.

Edit: Here's the breakdown for smooth bottom Wagner 1088:

3 versions

1. With pour spouts, 1081 lid with concentric rings on top.

2. With pour spouts, smaller than above, 1088 lid with concentric rings on top 2 zig-zag basting rings on the under side. 1068 lid for a #8 skillet fits this version as well.

3. No pour spouts and has an assist tab handle. A C-8 glass cover fits it. Since a C-8 also fits a 1268 DO, a 1268 DO cover should also fit this 1088.

My mother has a no spout, no tab version, but I don't know where it fits in all this.

The 1402 double skillet seems to cover all the bases.
