Cleaning Cast Iron coated with Porcelain

I have a Griswold skillet in cast iron lined on the inside with white porcelain. After seasoning the porcelain is stained in several spots. What is the best way to clean this without damaging the porcelain

Enamel is not meant to be seasoned. When used for cooking, care must be taken not to overheat and damage it, which also tends to lessen sticking. To take the spotty seasoning off, a brief dunk in a lye bath, 30 minutes or so, shouldn't hurt.
