Trying to clean some CI with wood handles attached with rivets. Any suggestions for subjecting the to Lye? etank? seasoning? without damaging the wood.
You should be able to drive the pin out of the waffle iron paddles to remove the handles without too much trouble. Check to make sure the small ends aren't peened over first. I'm not an expert so can't say.
The handle on the coffee grinder is trickier. The part the wooden part spins on is probably pressed in. You're going to need to give the cast iron arm really good support to press the axle out. Trying to drive it out with a hammer and punch has a fairly high probability of breaking the arm.
