Close call

During my searches today in Micanopy Florida I almost made an error that would have hurt nothing but my pride, but discovered it at the last minute before purchase. I thought I had a dirty old 3 notch lodge #8 for $5.00 until I walked into the cashier area with florescent light. I was barely able to make out "Made in Korea" at the 6 O'clock position. Same handle, same spouts, three notches in the heat ring and heavily crusted. Saw lots of cast iron but I'm trying hard to hold out for super rare or sportsman grills!

Close call! I know the skillet you are talking about. I've almost been fooled by it before, too.

I have been fooled with a number 5, just like you described. I'm new to collecting and thought maybe Lodge made some in Korea. I paid $2 for it and its now a garage ash tray.

i had a couple of korea and taiwan pieces in a pile i bought. They went in the trash when i got home

If I buy one in a "lot" or "set" I restore it just like the rest and use it! Maybe one day when I have too many I'll sell them to someone else to raise money for some more fine American Iron!
