D.O. Lids

Talking very early D.O., Camp Oven lids. It appears to me, many of the early ones have an angled coal lip? Not a standard straight up lip, but one that angles away from center a tad. This ever been talked about?

Makes sense to me. Before the perfectly standardized charcoal briquettes an angled lip, slightly longer would be better for various sizes of coals and wood as well as helping cover the edge of the DO from ashes. It would also provide more room for access to the handle. Minimal benefits, but hey......

Oddly enough, several I have seen also have a more "mounded lid" higher near the handle, not as flat as a modern lid
