This DC power supply, popular for powering electrolysis cast iron cleaning setups, is currently at an all-time low price of $45.99 on Amazon:

Edit 7/29: Amazon pricing fluctuates, and may have since this was posted. It has since returned to $49.95 and back down to $45.99 in the interim.

Is this a better plan than a manual battery charger?

Let me rephrase my question...
Will a DC power supply do a better job than a manual battery charger?

Thank you, Doug.
I have two manual chargers which are doing a good job for now. When one dies, armed with this knowledge, I'll probably go this route.

I have the two similar dc power supplies. I like that I have more control over the amps. I like that I can monitor the voltage needed to generate the amps. High voltage (about 12 volts at 5 amps) tells me it's time to clean the plates.

What about that input voltage of 2.4E +2Volts AC? What do you use to power this with? Not the standard 120V AC house voltage.

"2.4e+2 volts" is 240 volts. It's switchable. Scroll down: Input voltage:AC 110V / 220V(switch selection),50Hz / 60Hz

Went right back up to $45.99 yesterday evening. Amazon loves playing with prices. Show you one price and by the time you get to checkout it is the higher price. Not the first time I have seen that either.

If you use Google Chrome to browse the web, there's a browser extension called "Keepa" that will show the price history on Amazon items. It can also alert you when the price drops to an amount of your choosing.

My assumption would be that, like others of its kind, it also inserts its Amazon affiliate tag if you click through to the item from its interface. CIC would not get credit if purchased that way.

Actually, I don't think there's a way to purchase through its interface.
