Did I find something?

Hey gang, was hoping you guys could help me with this. Found this old griddle at the local antique store. It's got some odd features to it, but has the remnants of a gate mark on the bottom.

Thought I would post some pics and get some opinion before I restore it. Notice (1) the very inset heat ring (or what appears to be a heat ring). (2) the short handle, and the odd "tear drop" hole.

Anyone seen anything like this? Thanks.

Looks like made for a woodstove. Heat ring to center it on an eye, nicely offset handle to keep the cook's knuckles from getting burned.

i ran across a very similar if not identical one at a flea market recently. It was freakishly lightweight. Had a huge crack though :(
