Did someone polish this skillet?

Just pulled this guy out of the lye bath. The paint came off no problem but right away I noticed the pan looked more shiny metallic than the dull gray I'm used to. Any insights?

Looks like a somewhat aggressive wire wheel job.

Or sanded it. The scratches give it away that the surface was prepped for paint. Still good for a user, just lost it's patina.
