Didn't buy anything, but had fun looking ...

My wife wanted to drive up to Lulu, GA today to buy pumpkins, veggies, boiled peanuts etc at Jaemor Farms. On the way back, we stopped at an antique store. They had the most cast iron I've seen in one spot. Unfortunately, it was all priced out of my comfort zone. I would have liked to have spent more time looking, (I wanted to pick up every piece and study it! HA!) but my wife was getting impatient.

Here's what I saw when I walked in ...

I found a raised #7! ... but it was a single notch and I'm looking for a no-notch. Would have been tempted to buy it, but not for $34.95 (with my wife looking over my shoulder).

BTW - this is a Wagner chicken fryer like the one I paid $15 for this week (except this one has a lid.) I thought y'all said it came with a glass lid? The number on the bottom was 1088A. Mine says 1088C.

Wagner price lists from the 1950s show the 1088 as spoutless and supplied with a glass cover. A 1940s catalog shows it with spouts and an iron cover with spout cover "ears". I have a feeling the lid on the one you saw is the DO cover that happens to fit, albeit a later one, and should fit Wagner DOs marked either 1268 or a just "8" unmarked version, which is what it likely came with originally.
