Do you use your 3 legged pot?

Hey gang,

I recently came across a #8 Favoirte Piqua Ware 3 legged pot for a pretty decent price (under $25). It appears to be painted black but otherwise in pretty good shape. While I think this thing is AWESOME i'm struggling to think of many practical uses for it. I live in an small old house (1916) and don't have much excess room to store something I won't use.

So my question to all your 3 legged pot owners, do you use it? What do you make in it? Is it an outside only item or can you put it on the stove too? Please enlighten me!

Thanks everyone!

If you don't want to cook in it (I would have a hard time on my electric range - depending on how long the legs are) I'm sure you could find a ton of other uses. For example, I have a friend who uses a big one to store logs by his fireplace.

Thanks for sharing!

W.Hilditch, those chicken and waffles look incredible!

I think i'll try to get it, if it's still available. If so, i'll update the thread with pictures.

Thanks again for the ideas!

I use one for this:

Nice way to use or repurpose an iron piece. Did you make the cauldron grill grate or have it made?? I have several cauldrons with drilled holes in the bottoms that would make grills like yours.

The grill grate is a STOK. Ordered online, but I forget who from. Just Google STOK grill grate and you'll get several hits. Just did a quick search and it looks like Home Depot is about the least expensive. The big old cauldron I'm cooking on was left here 11 years ago when I bought this place. It was being used as a planter and had about a 1 inch hole drilled in the bottom. Works great as a grill or fire pit.
