Hello everyone, I'm new to the forums and wanted to know if anyone here would know who manufactured this skillet. The seller says it's a Griswold but when I emailed her she says she's no expert and really can't verify for sure.

Wagner made this pan in its Ohio plant using a pattern it acquired when its parent company also bought Griswold. It could have been sold as either Wagner or Griswold, depending on labeling or packaging. Most collectors you ask, however, would call it a Wagner, as they consider anything not made in Erie, PA and not marked Erie, PA not to be true Griswold.

Great thank you so much for the info! How does a Wagner compare to a griswold in terms of casting quality and longevity? I am pretty new to all this stuff and would like to get a good lifetime quality skillet for my wife.

At the time this pan was made, all the right things were still being done. Of course, a #14 Griswold with all the markings this pan's pattern originally had, and had it been made in Erie, would be more highly valued. But as a user, there's no appreciable difference.

My experience is that these are excellent workhorse pans. If you need a no. 14, and there are no condition issues with it, price included of course, I'd think it was a good deal. I like my Wagners and Sidney pans a lot; just my opinion, of course, but I've had good luck with them.
