editing

I noticed once you hit submit on a post you cannot go back and edit it or fix spelling. Is there a way but I am missing it?

I do believe that you have 30 minutes to edit your post. Down in the right hand corner of your post window, on the right side of the Quote button there will be the Edit button.
If I am wrong, Doug will set it straight.

Edits can be made for a short period after the post is originally submitted, with an eye towards correcting typos or a quick addition, and without entering a "Reason for editing". After a bit longer period, the system requires an entry in the reason field. After a bit longer than that, posts are closed to editing in order to, shall we say, preserve thread integrity. The moderator can still edit a post for you if circumstances dictate.
