Just picked this up for $20. I would like info on it. It has ERIE on one end and no number that can see. I do need to clean it. Any help is appreciated.

I can't see the "Erie" marking in your picture, but the overall shape is that of the Erie #10 p/n948 on page 106 of the BB. The part number and the size should also be marked on the bottom, though, according to the book.

Perhaps there will be more markings when you have cleaned it. It does look to be fairly well coated.

Of all the variations of this pan listed in the YB, the expectation would be that it should at least have "No. 10" on the underside of the opposite handle. Pattern numbers were not used from the outset, so a handful of the variations do not include it. Absent the No. 10 marking, coupled with the extreme faintness of the Erie, one could surmise this may possibly be a copy.

I agree with Doug on this one, I don't have the YB yet but I think what I am seeing is not a very crusty pan but instead a rough casting. I have been fooled by rough cast copies before.

There is a no. 10 on the other side. It is cleaning now so I hope to know more tomorrow. As a new CI collector I just bought the blue and red book. Just got the RB yesterday. I am just starting to go through it now. You mentioned YB. What is it?
Thank You, from a new collector.
