Ever Regret Selling a Piece?

Im relatively new at this, having had very minimal CI until February when the bug bit me. I now have over 50 pieces, of different sizes, styles, and manufacturers. I started out as a user/non collector just looking for good pieces I could use for myself. My collection kept growing of various things, with no real intent other than to gather iron, and I really enjoy the hunt. For some reason, I dont know why, I have sorta developed a soft spot for Favorite Smiley iron. I only have a #8 and a #5, but i like the logo, and i like the skillets. So that leads me to the fact that I am going to start weeding some stuff out to make room for more hunting, I have some really nice pieces and realize I cant keep them all, so have any of you ever regretted selling a piece after it was gone? And what kind of justification do you use on whether to keep or sell?

Personally I buy and resell a lot of cast iron . So I have had these struggles a few times . But honestly the only one I really regret was a National that was also marked Wagner Ware .

We all collect in many different ways . What has turned out to be mine are the old straight sided , outside heat ring skillets . I just like how they look , the way their handles are attached .

I have two #9 and a #8 ERIE , a #9 and #7 Wagner , a #9 and #8 Favorite Piqua Ware and a #9 and #7 Wapak . The ONLY straight sided pan I ever let go was that National and it was in mint condition .

I never even got it home . I picked it up at a Flea Market and in a moment of weakness I resold it to a guy who saw me with it and offered me three times what I paid for it . I wish I hadn't done that .

I sell / trade / and gift CI often and have never regretted letting a piece go. My outlook is that there is always another find around the corner and if I pass it along to someone else they will enjoy it as much as I do.

That being said I would never part with my go to #8 small block logo Griswold, not rare at all but I use it weekly and it would take me years to get another piece seasoned to this level of perfection.

I buy and sell, mostly trade. I have let a few go that I would like to have back. Several number 16 Lodge dutch ovens, these big ones were cheap at one time. Number 5 Lodge dutch ovens. Number 4 Griswold skillets.
Things I don't regret hoarding. Gate marked spider skillets and lids, gate marked pig eared footed dutch ovens and lids. Middle 1980's these were cheap and popped up at yard sales, antique sales and flea markets.

Only a tiny twinge of regret getting rid of a Sperry skillet that I used all the time, but it went to someone who was completing a set. I felt good about that and probably have benefited from the good karma as lots of good CI has come my way.

I guess after 3-4 months of collecting and over 50 pieces I was hoping I would start to see a pattern develop and would naturally find a direction to follow in collecting, but all of my pieces so far are all different sizes, markings, and makers, only have more than 1 of only a couple pieces, a favorite smiley 8 and 5skillet, slant griswold Erie 11 skillet and 16 round bailed griddle, and 3 new Lodge pieces, everything else is singles so I guess I'm afraid of selling a piece only to start finding more of that kind and regret selling it
