Ever seen one of these?

I've never come across on of these before. It's for sale and i'm not sure if I should pull the trigger or not (they want $40). It looks like it should have come with a lid.

Anyone seen one of these before? are they rare/valuable?

Would be more valuable if not pitted on the bottom and complete. The original lid will be a tough find, tin, with a hatched spout.

So it sounds like you've come across these before? I've never seen any cast iron labeled as "safety cooker" before.

It's merely a flat bottom kettle designed to hold a cover in place while you pour out a hot liquid but not the cooked contents.

They also came with a tin lid and tin trivet
