Favorite Piqua-Ware, Waffle

Shortly after Christmas I put a minimal bid in for a #8 Piqua-Ware waffle iron less the base on e-Bay. The piece hasn't arrived yet but I am wondering if anyone knows what the holes thru the handle are used for? If you look in the BB page 291 that is the piece I have. It appears there are no tabs on either side which are used as stops on most all other irons. I see no pin for the handles to slide in to on the base itself and no indication there was some other sort of a stop than perhaps the way it sets in the ball (swivel end) of the base.
Can anyone elaborate something about the holes or the stops?

The bases of the handles are flat, and the landing notch in the base is square and deep. Together they hold the irons flat horizontal. The holes appear to just be for air circulation cooling.

Thanks Doug....Thought if anyone knew it would be you. Now all I need to do is find a base at a reasonable price....

Doug he said he was looking for one at a reasonable price. :icon_rofl:
I have high hopes for this little beauty.

It's o.k. Bonnie. I know how hard it is to give up any piece. My waffle iron arrived today and I thought it may fit some of my other bases but I soon found out that Favorite made the ball joints about 1/8" larger than what was probably the standard for most other brands. Eventually......I will find my part and then I will share it on the show and tell......
