First 2015 outing

A dealer I know had told me about an auction house that had dozens of pieces of CI to be auctioned off. I called and asked when the preview started. Turns out they weren't being auctioned but were just "for sale". It was only about 30 miles from my home so I went shopping.

There were over 200 pieces of CI (first 4 photos) but they were all badly rusted. It took about three hours to examine each piece and come up with 18 items, none "highly collectible", that I wanted to buy. The owner wanted to know if they were all Wagner and Griswold. I told him only a few were marked and we settled on $70 for all of them.

The load included a 6 piece BSR cornbread pan that appears to be red enamel Does anyone know if BSR produced enameled pieces?

I know you guys like eye candy but please be patient. It will take a while for all of them to go through the E tank.

I see a few things in there I wouldn't mind finding. Here's hoping they clean up well. I've had a few that looked like those that I thought would just be so-so that came out pristine, and some others that, well... didn't.

That is a rusty pile of heaven! Can't wait to see those outside heat ring skillets (pics 5, 6, 9, 10) come out of the etank :icon_scratchchin:

Good find and score! Only time and hard work will tell if your fortune is good. Good hunting fellow! The piece I'm attempting to identify was left in a guy's backyard for who knows how many years. Rusty piece of junk when I got it--you'd be surprised how it goes.

Went out last weekend looking, didn't find anything I wanted.

However... Discovered that someone I've known casually for 25+ years, someone I've talked to quite a bit, but never about cast iron. Lives a couple miles from me. When I brought up cast iron to her last weekend she revealed that she's been collecting/hoarding cast iron cookware since the 70's. Claims she has over 300 pieces in one of her sheds.

I know where her and her husband live, and they've got an open door policy. Show up whenever. Downside, she's not keen on selling. She's a collector too, but I don't know how iron-clad the "I don't sell" is... Guess I'll just have to go up the hill and find out. Will try to get some photos.
