For Fans of Cast Aluminum....

I found these two items on rounds today.... I picked up the
Magnalite petite gourmet pan for $5.00. I passed on the
18 qt. National pressure cooker (but the force was strong
with this one !) ;). It appeared to be missing the "basket"
and the petcocks looked non-original. Depending on condition
and completeness they seem to draw in the $100 range.

The Magnalite should clean up nicely ... flat bottom. A nice
Lady in line at the check-out was very knowledgeable about
this line....she was sorry she missed it.

Now there is 5 dollars well spent. I have really limited experience with the Wagner Ware aluminum pieces, but I am starting to like them more and more!

late edit...

according to on-line searches...on the pressure
cooker/canner the petcock is original, is missing
a trivet and the basket. Similar as old as 1940's.
My Mother-in-law owns one just like it.

Follow up...
ok...first road test of the cast aluminum Magnalite
Petite Gourmet pan. Whipped up some Grits... (I
like mine with Butter/salt/pepper/brown sugar). And,
used ol' #8 for some Jimmy Dean sausage patties.
:glutton: (Snuck a little Crown in to the morning coffee...
perfect).

The pan worked great... quick to rolling boil (with lid
on). Easy clean up.

I will keep this one. Perfect for the RV. ;) Man I love
cooking with gas.

Glad you like the new pan.....it will work great in your RV I assume. I also would have to agree with you, I LOVE cooking on gas!

I will have a cup of coffee with you. Not sure about eating out of aluminum cookware. Perhaps the propaganda, fake news, or research scares me. I avoid all aluminum. Buy beer in bottles only. Never seen Crown or bourbon in a aluminum container. ?? Bottled water? I always pass on any aluminum old cookware. All of this is my personal opinion. Not insulting, a pure personal opinion based my perception of available research.

I have two of the magnalite roasters including the giant one that can handle a good sized turkey. They are superb, heavy duty and easy to clean. I have also read up on the concerns surrounding aluminum cookware but the research is far from conclusive and I am taking my chances.
