I was out hunting last weekend and picked up a few items. Found my first glass Wagner Ware glass top ($1 at a junk shop). Soaked it in the lye bath for 2 days and it still has that baked on haze. Any suggestions?

The bean pot ($6) is marked 8 B on the bottom and 8 FBP on the lid. I am guessing BSR only because the casting is better than the Asian knock offs.

The stick pan ($2) has no markings and I have no clue who made it. I plan on that being a user since my son really likes corn bread sticks.

If you have any suggestions about the identification I would like to hear them.

Please let me know if the link doesn't work. I usually have to try 2 or 3 times to get them to work

Lye is supposed to be somewhat corrosive to glass, so I wouldn't continue with it on your lid. Perhaps someone tried oven cleaner before on it, resulting in the etching.

The bean pot does look BSR-like, but I'm still not quite sure it is.

I wonder if cleaning the stick pan will reveal any ghosts (like a 954) that might provide a clue.

I don't know about the oven cleaner. I have been thinking about trying vinegar. I don't think I can hurt it.

The stick pan is waiting its turn in the electrolysis bath and I'll let you know if anything shows up.

OK, now we can cross off muriatic acid as a good glass cleaner. Soaked a portion of the lid overnight in undiluted acid. Im not sure if there was a very slight improvement or if it was just wishful thinking on my part. Still cloudy on the inside surface.

By the way, this lid does not have a part number, just a Wagner Ware logo on the exterior. The knob on top is hollow, first time Ive ever seen that. Any idea of the age?

The ones with Wagner Ware in an oval are from the 1950s; the unmarked ones, the 1960s. The only one I have has a hollow in the handle, about 1/2" deep, and the only marking is "WAGNER C-8" at the very rim, outside the retaining ring.
