Good day thrifting

Thanks, I was pretty happy when I spotted that hinge. The one in the Red Book is hammered and has a different style handle. I wonder if this one was made around the same time as the one on RB page 229?

That great Bonnie!!! My brother also had a good day in the thrift store. He scored a large cast Bunt Cake pan for 5 dollars!!! They are all at least 200 where I am. It is an early gate marked piece. 5 bucks seems to be the price of the day. Happy hunting.

Good score with the late cast 4 in 1. I will bet a nickle the bottom large is marked 8, FS, Made in USA, cast mark D.

Bryan, if it's marked made in USA I would think that makes it much newer than the 4 in 1 in the RB. Do you know when it was made?

I was curious about the "made in USA" so I pulled it out of the lye to take a look. It has the 8, the FS (foursome) and the D but no "made in USA" so I am back to thinking it was made at the same time as the one in the RB.
Kyle, I think your brother had a better day than I did, I would love to find a Bundt pan.

I was green with envy when he called and I am green with envy now looking at how pretty your lodge is cleaning up. Enjoy the process, it is my favorite part!!

Good find Bonnie....I always get a rush when I find a piece of CI that's covered with crud and nothing is legible on it until you start cleaning it. Well....almost always. When you see a crack or deep pitting you always think (why me). Guess that's why we keep doing what we're doing.

Nice finds ! The Lodge is the same exact one I posted in this section back on 9-11-16, handle and all, and what a great price!

Bonnie, does your 4-n-1 have a hammered finish? I was looking around online and saw one with a hammered finish listed for sale in Elijay, GA. I need to get up that way in the near future to pick up a aebleskiver pan that is waiting for me. Of course, they are asking more than double what I normally pay for stuff ... I'm just wondering if it's worth taking the time to check it out.

You have the version before mine. Not sure on the dates. I bought my examples to clean up and turn into trade / barter material. I liked the feel and function, so I kept the better one. It hangs with my regular user ware. This combo 4 in 1 has a fine finish, unlike the new Lodge products.

Awesome! BTW - I went to the antique store that posted the hammered finish one. It had a slight wobble. Not too bad, but I decided to pass.
