I'm a sentimental sort of dude. I love researching family history and the fact that more than half of the furniture in my house has been handed down from our parents and grandparents. Maybe that's why I love cast iron. I had some pieces from when we got married 30+ years ago, but didn't fall in love with it until I inherited pieces from my grandmother. There's just something about cooking a meal for your family with a skillet which was used to prepare food for your own mother back when she was a child.
Anyway, my youngest daughter is getting married in a couple of months. Today, some friends are giving her a wedding shower with a kitchen theme. I think now is a good time to pass on my Perch Pan. Her fiancé is a big fisherman, so the Perch Pan makes sense. This pan used to be my mom's. It's not that old, but she used to make cornbread in it when she fried the fish my Dad and I caught, so I have fond memories of it being in our kitchen.

I hope it brings as much joy and good cornbread into my daughter's new home, as it did in mine.
