Grandmas skillets

Sad tale but our family lost couple heirloom skillets.

Going faint memory and eBay pictures.

At least one resembled a wapak with no writing
Had a similar heat ring.
May have had a size number.

Were thin walled and light weight, slick as glass

May have dozens of similar brands out there.

Sound familiar?????

You are my people. Wish I had respected and listened more as a child

My family's are gone too. No one appreciated them and they were given away.

Now is the time to start new traditions and build a collection that we can pass down.

Our skillets survived the house burning down, but they are warped and rusted now. Hung them up on the still standing concrete foundation and a bird built it's nest inside the Lodge No.7. It's nice to see it's still part of a warm and loving home for another generation of babies...

I recently acquired my Gram's cast iron collection & have been busy restoring them. At the grand old age of 97, she hadn't done her own cooking for quite a while. While I had my own small collection of cast iron (2 or 3 small skillets), I only started using them within the last 5 years. I use them almost daily now.
I will be giving my youngest son his first skillet, from Gram's collection, for Christmas. Hopefully, this will become a tradition (at least with him & his future children), as well as foster a new appreciation for cast iron!

Happy Update:

My wife's Great Grandmother heard about my love of CI and dug out her's out and gave them to me. Now I do have to real family heirlooms to pass down.
