This is the skillet I bought in a package deal with the Wagner chicken fryer. I couldn't see a number on it when I bought it, but I figured it was hiding under some crud. Here is the skillet after a couple of days in the lye bath...
As you can see, no number at the 12:00 position (not on the handle either.)
That's my single notch #8 lying next to it. Both have a R as a molder's mark. One interesting thing I noticed. On the #8, the heat ring and the molder's mark are "pointy". On the #7 they are flat. My single notch #6 and also my grandmother's #7 are also flat. Does that mean they were made in a different "era"? Or maybe just a different (or well used) mold?
Here's a close -up of the heat rings and "R"s.

How do I know this is a #7? Well, I can't be sure, but it fits perfectly between the #6 and #8 ...
Edit: dang that stupid Imgur!! It tells me the size of the second picture has been saved in a reduced size, and then it posts a huge version. Ugh. I deleted it and posted a link to it.
